Our final league game of the season had arrived and with no midweek games to worry about, we went into the fixture with a full strength squad to choose from.

A better team performance was demanded in view of our last 2 results and we certainly started off the game by dominating the opening minutes. However, as the half progressed, we saw a number of good chances missed as our possession increased. Both Oli Boon and Jordan Knight saw their opportunities go close and when Mo Bouaziz latched onto a through ball and cut across the defender onto his left foot, only a great save by the Patchway keeper prevented him from opening the scoring. Reece Tucker also saw 2 half chances go close but it was Brad Monelle who had the best chance by cutting in from the right. With just the keeper to beat, it took another great save to deny him. It remained 0-0 at half time but by far we were the better team.

The second half carried on much the same way the first half finished with further dominance in midfield by Oli Randall and James Boulton. At the back, Craig Francis in goal was called upon twice to make good saves and the pressure soon paid off. Brad Monelle was given a further chance to beat the keeper and this time he made no mistake by lashing the ball home to put us 1-0 up. A second soon followed from James Boulton to put us in control of the game. A great point blank save by our keeper Craig kept us 2 goals in front and with 5 minutes to go an inspired substitution by Richard Boulton saw Reece Tucker put up front. He didn’t disappoint scoring 2 near identical goals inside 3 minutes to secure the points.

This performance was considered one of the best of the season which was made all the more pleasing as most of the parents had come to watch our final match and we kept a very well deserved clean sheet.

The final Man of the Match award was probably the hardest to choose as every single player today had contributed in a positive way. It was though awarded to our unsung hero in goal Craig Francis who once again had a very impressive game.
